01 · Did you know?

The day Charlotte Church sang at the Robin Hood

On 29 April 2011, as communities across Britain celebrated the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, Severn Grove hosted a Royal Wedding street party. Neighbours gathered for a day of celebration, with the Robin Hood at the heart of the occasion.

One of the day’s most memorable moments came when Cardiff singer Charlotte Church performed through an open window of the pub to the crowd outside. Her appearance turned an already lively neighbourhood gathering into a story that travelled beyond Pontcanna.

A contemporary account captures the celebrations and the community spirit of the day. You can read the original story or watch the performance below.

02 · Our character

In the heart of Pontcanna

The Robin Hood is a proper neighbourhood local: a bar and lounge full of character, Sunday lunches, pizza nights, darts and a welcoming place to meet friends.

Outside, the beer gardens offer another side of pub life. The rear garden features heated seating and a retractable roof, giving guests a comfortable spot when the Welsh weather has other ideas.

03 · Our history

A Pontcanna local since 1901

Historical accounts date the Robin Hood to 1901. Over the decades, the pub has become a familiar part of life on Severn Grove, while its historic Hancock’s Ales & Stout tiled frontage recalls an earlier chapter of Cardiff’s pub heritage.

It’s a place with more than a century of stories behind its doors, and plenty still being made.
